Missouri

On Friday morning, November 11th, the 66th Annual Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony will roll out through downtown Branson.

This week long event boasts itself as the largest Veterans Day celebration in America. This year's events include: traditional Marine Corps Birthday Ceremony, a dinner and dance, a keynote address delivered by Lt. Col. Oliver North, a spectacular Grand Opening Ceremony, specially produced musical shows, and numerous military unit reunions (such as a gathering of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen). The last day of the event, November 11th, will feature the annual downtown Veterans Day Parade.

Illinois

The Edwardsville Veteran's Day parade began on November 11, 1919, on the first anniversary of the end of WWI, and has been held continuously every year, rain or shine, except for two years during WWII. The parade is co-sponsored by the Edwardsville VFW and the American Legion and is held yearly on Veteran's Day to honor local veterans. The parade starts on North Main at the fire station and heads to Vandalia Street, where the parade heads west and ends at the County Building. Each year, 85-125 units participate in the parade including color guard, all divisions of the military, school and community groups, and numerous floats and bands.

To honor those who have proudly served our nation, the Chicago Zoological Society is hosting a recognition ceremony and all are invited to attend. Guests are invited to bring items which will be donated to Troops serving overseas through Operation Stars and Stripes. Admission to this event is free.

Parade begins at 2pm from the Anna City Park entrance on Davie St and follows Main St. to Jefferson St. and back to the park. The Anna VFW post invites everyone back to the lodge for hotdogs and chili.
Texas

- Place: Downtown Square, Sherman, TX 75090
- Start Time for Event: 10:00 AM
The vehicles will move to the line-up area at Mulberry and Walnut Streets in Sherman. The downtown parade will begin at 10:00 AM, proceed south on Travis Street to the Courthouse and around the square to end at the East side of the courthouse. A static display of equipment will be set up in the parking area on Travis Street between Houston and Lamar. The display will last until approximately 3:00 PM.

Central Texas Area Veterans Advisory Committee in conjunction with local veterans' organizations and the City of Killeen will be celebrating Veterans Day 2008 with a community-wide parade. The parade will take place on Tuesday, November 11, starting at 11:00 a.m. at City Hall. The parade line-up will be on Avenue E starting at College Street. The Theme for this years parade is "Honoring Those Who Served."

The day will begin at Fairfield Center for Creative Arts (1035 Texas Street) with a 10:00 a.m. concert of patriotic-themed music. A Ceremony of Remembrance will immediately follow the concert. At 12:30 p.m. the Veterans Day Parade will begin. The parade will assemble on Webster Street at Kentucky Street. The route will proceed west on Kentucky Street to Taylor Street, where it will turn south. It will turn east on Texas Street, travel through downtown, and turn north again on Washington Street, disbanding between Kentucky and Webster Streets.

The annual Veterans' Day Parade will be held on November 11, 2008 in downtown Austin, TX. The event kicks off at 9 AM from the Congress Avenue Bridge and travels up to the Capital Building. Viewing is available all along Congress Avenue and there will be a reviewing stand at the Steven F. Austin Hotel at Congress and 7th. There will be an 11:00 AM Ceremony at the South Capital steps. The event is hosted by the Travis County Veterans Service Office and Veterans Day Parade Committee.

The California Department of Veterans Affairs is hosting their annual VetFund Veterans Day Golf Tournament at Mather Golf Course. All CA veterans are invited to participate in a putting contest, golf tournament, and awards dinner. Registration for the event starts at 9:00 AM.

This is the Fourth Annual San Fernando Valley Veterans Day Parade. The parade will begin at the corner of Laurel Canyon Blvd. and San Fernando Mission Blvd, proceed down Laurel Canyon Blvd.1.1 miles and culminate at the Ritchie Valens Recreation Center and Park, 10736 Laurel Canyon Blvd., Pacoima, CA 91331 (corner of Laurel Canyon Blvd. and Paxton St.). There will be a carnival at the Ritchie Valens Recreation Center.

The Merced County Human Services Agency, in partnership with the County Veterans Services Office and the Merced Downtown Association is sponsoring the 4th Annual Veterans Day Parade. The day kicks off with a Veterans Day Ceremony which start at 11:00 AM at the Courthouse Park Memorial.

The City of Jacksonville is hosting their annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Jacksonville. The theme for this year is "Forever Grateful" and the City of Jacksonville encourages visitors to wear your red, white, and blue.

Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Mayor's Veterans Advisory Council are hosting their annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Orlando. The parade begins at the corner of Orange Ave. & Robinson St, featuring Gasparilla parade floats. The parade kicks off at 10:00 AM and ends at 12:00 PM.

North Carolina

The City of Raleigh would like you to join them on Saturday, November 8, 2008 in downtown Raleigh as they salute our Veterans. The parade will begin at 9:30 Saturday morning and will be followed by a formal ceremony at the Capitol at 11:00. The Enloe Ensemble will play between the parade and the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the public is invited to learn about America's rich military heritage at the Virginia War Museum. Visit the museum on Veterans Day and receive $1 off the posted admission prices.

The Hampton Roads Naval Museum will host a live performance of the Hampton Roads Metro Band in honor of Veterans’ Day. This group consists of active duty civilians, retired, and active duty military. Music will cover a wide range of styles from marches to Broadway musical and jazz. They will perform onboard the USS Wisconsin starting at 1:30 P.M.
Arizona

During the annual Veterans Day Celebration watch re-enactments representing time periods from 1775 to present in a March and Military Review. Visitors also enjoy firearms and cannon demonstrations, plus other hands-on history activities. See America's past come to life and pay tribute to America's military. The local American Legion hosts a 1940's Big Band era dinner and dance on Saturday night. Tickets for the dance can be purchased at American Legion.

The Phoenix VA Health Care System's annual VA Veterans Day Parade pays tribute to our nation's veterans, honoring all who have served in war, conflict and peacetime. One of the largest such events in the nation, the parade will feature approximately 100 entries, including historic military vehicles, Veterans Service Organizations such as the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion etc., marching units, color guards, equestrian units, floats, balloons and bands. The parade starts at the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center grounds at Seventh Street and Indian School Road in Phoenix. The parade heads north on Seventh Street from Montecito to Camelback Road, west on Camelback Road to Central Avenue, and north on Central Avenue to Montebello, ending at the North Phoenix Baptist Church.

There is no entry fee to be in the parade, but all parade units must salute our veterans, active military and/or the US Flag. The parade is a nighttime parade, so units are encouraged to be lighted - walking units need flashlights or lanterns; mobile units should light/decorate themselves in lights. Patriotic music by the units is encouraged. The parade route is lighted by street lights, but lighting of the units adds a special element to the parade. The route of the parade goes from the high school north on Campbellton Street to Church Street (Regions Bank), west on Church Street to Bowden Street (Douglasville Police Department), south on Bowden to Upshaw, east on Upshaw to Price, and south on Price, Woodrow and Campbellton back to the high school, a route of approximately one mile.
