Big Show tonight on You Served Radio

We have a star-studded show for tonight broadcast of You Served Radio. You won’t want to miss it. We will be talking to past-paratrooper and country-recording artists Rockie Lynne about his service, his music, his charities and his most recent album, Songs for Soldiers. Check out Rockie’s You Tube Channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/RockieLynne#p/u/0/q8vT-p2fBKs

After Rockie we will be talking to author Richard Lowry. Richard is the author of his most recent book, New Dawn: The Battles for Fallujah. Richard is also the author of “The Gulf War Chronicles”, “US Marine in Iraq: Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2003″ and the award winning “”Marines in the Garden of Eden”. We will be talking to Richard about his latest book which (in my opinion) is the most detailed account of what is probably known as the most pivotal battle of the war in Iraq.

Drill Sergeant Peffer at BWE

Drill Sergeant Peffer at BWE from You Served Radio & Blog on Vimeo.

The US Army had a very popular booth at Blog World Expo again this year and one reason it was popular was because of a pair of Drill Sergeants that were there. Drill Sergeant Peffer was one of those guys who challenged attendees to do pull-ups and push-ups in order to get a Go Army T-shirt or Water Bottle. It was the hardest SWAG to get from a booth on the expo floor but many were lined up take on the challenge for a T-shirt. This interview provides a little background about Army Strong Stories and gives insight as to why the Army comes to BWE.

Interview with Mark Burnett

Yesterday I was able to spend some one on one time with famed Producer Mark Burnett. Mark has produced hit shows like The Eco-Challenge, Survivor, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader and The Apprentice. His latest venture is Sara Palin’s Alaska. Mark stopped by the Milblog Track panels yesterday at Blog World Expo to show us the very first public showing of this new show. We were able to watch the first 15 minutes of the first episode. I can tell you from what I saw I think it will be a hit show. Mark was involved with many, many more shows. You should check out the list of productions he has been involved with on his Wiki page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Burnett.

Mark was also a former British Para member and fought some hard, yet almost unknown battles in the Falkland Islands. When he talked about that to us at the milblog track he quickly became very emotional. A little about that battle can be found at http://www.hmforces.co.uk/Training/articles/1834-the-falklands-conflict-part-5—battles-of-goose-green-stanley.

As you will see in the interview below, Mark is a very outgoing guy who credits most of his success in life to his time in the military.
