NON-VA Organization could be collecting info on Veterans

The following information was passed on to me by a very Sr. NCO and AUSA Chapter Officer. It appears to be a valid warning based on my research of this organization.

Forwarded by Kevin Secor, VSO Liaison, Office of the Secretary of the
Department of Veterans Affairs.

An organization called Veterans Affairs Services (VAS) is providing benefit
and general information on VA and gathering personal information on veterans.
This organization is not affiliated with VA in any way.

VAS may be gaining access to military personnel through their close
resemblance to the VA name and seal. Our Legal Counsel has requested that we
coordinate with DoD to inform military installations, particularly
mobilization sites, of this group and their lack of affiliation or
endorsement by VA to provide any services.

In addition, GC requests that if you have any examples of VAS acts that
violate chapter 59 of Title 38 United States Code, such as VAS employees
assisting veterans in the preparation and presentation of claims for
benefits, please pass any additional information to Mr.Daugherty at the
address below.

A Walk in My Shoes (movie on military families)

I found this on Wives in Bloom and I can’t wait to see it. The preview is extremely emotional and I can see why the military families who viewed the movie gave it a thunderous applause!

Jocelyn Green:
On Friday December 3rd, at 8/7c on NBC, the world television movie premiere of A Walk In My Shoes will provide a revealing look at two families whose lives collide and the struggles facing our military communities. This film, the latest family movie produced by Walmart and Procter & Gamble’s Family Movie Night initiative, was recently screened with military families at Fort Belvoir in Virginia and Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland to thunderous applause. Those in attendance praised the movie as a compelling drama and for educating others on complexities endured by military families, and as a great movie the whole family can enjoy together.

Nano-Technology helps with TBI

I ran across this story and wanted to share it. I think it is a great example of how Academia brings it’s brain power to bear and thinks out of the box to help solve military capability gaps or as in this case help with a military need that may not have even been thought of. I can tell you that the military regularly looks outside its own smart people to see what the universities and industry and inventing to see if it can be applied to military needs.
