JetBlue Offers $1 Military Fares

JetBlue is offering an AWESOME military special during the month of May. It makes me wish I was still stationed in the DC area. In addition to the great offer, they’re going to support a great cause:

JetBlue proudly supports our men and women in uniform. In honor of National Military Appreciation Month, we’re offering active duty military personnel $1* fares for domestic, nonstop flights, for a limited time, departing from the two JetBlue cities nearest to our nation’s capital: Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Dulles, VA, and Richmond International Airport (RIC) in Richmond, VA. To further honor our military, JetBlue will donate $15,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), a non-profit organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors. Learn more about the Wounded Warrior Project.

Here’s the deal. You have to book between now and May 7 and travel between the 8th and the end of the month. You have to travel FROM either Washington Dulles or Richmond International Airport, but you can travel to ANY continental US city that flies nonstop from these airports. Unfortunately, it’s only offered to troops currently serving on active duty.

To book your $1* fare call 1-800-JETBLUE (538-2583) and select option 4. Important: Flights cannot be purchased online or at the airport service counter. Servicemembers are responsible for applicable taxes and fees. At the airport, you must check in at the service counter and present a current, valid DOD Common Access Card and official documentation from your branch of service verifying that you are on authorized leave from active duty. Failure to present these documents will void your reservation.

The $15 phone booking fee will be waived for this promotion only. Have your credit card number handy to pay taxes and fees. For more information, check out JetBlue’s website.

  1. This is great!! …oh wait…not for retirees….

This is great for you guys/gals still on Active duty…take advantage of these deals while you’ve got them…

The rest of us…we’ll waive from the tarmac…

  2. Hi. I am wondering if there is any way some of us civilians may participate in this by donating their little bit of dollars as well. Please let me know, because I would like to help. I could also send out the word, and maybe we could get more money to the troops. Thanks.

That is easy. Buy a ticket…….

  4. This is great if you are stationed at the Pentagon. As for the rest of the warfighting military; it doesn’t help. Nice, a deal for military leadership (who can afford a full fare ticket and probably has a billion frequent flyer miles), but not for the normal grunt living at Ft Hood, Texas or Minot, ND (who could have used a deal like this). I’ll pass…Richmond or Dulles, come on…

    • Wes, it’s not like JetBlue is this HUGE air carrier. Give these guys a break and cut back on the cynicism a bit. Would you rather they do NOTHING? The DC area is their hub. In the area serviced by these airports is Fort Meade, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, the Pentagon, Andrews Air Force Base, Fort Belvoir, Fort A.P. Hill, Fort Detrick, Fort Eustis, Fort Lee, Fort McNair, Fort Myers, Fort Monroe, Fort Story, Fort Monroe, Walter Reed Medical Center and its Wounded Warrior population, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Station, Naval Air Station Oceana, Marine Barracks in D.C., Qantico Marine Base, Bolling Air Force Base, Langley AFB, and MORE.

Stop being such a selfish douchebag!

  9. Way to go Jet Blue. I hope that many of our soldiers will be able to use this. Wish they had more options thou!

While i understand why you may see this as a good deal, if you read all the conditions, you’ll discover why Wes’s point is also valid. No reason for the ad hominem on him.

I live in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area; Richmond is not the airport of choice. I live on the Pennisula side and it’s an hour commute for me (on a good day) or a $75-100 cab ride. Someone coming from Va Beach, Norfolk, Suffolk, Portsmouth, or Chesapeake is adding easily 2 to 2.5 hours commute just to get to RIC.

I appreciate JetBlue’s gesture. I guess we should always be grateful for the intentions…
