Paul Gigot is an editor for the Wall Street Journal and moderator of the Fox News program, Journal Editorial Report. He recently denigrated our heroic National Guard during his program. This is P.J. Degross’s response:
Fox news should be ashamed of the comments made by your Paul Gigot on the Journal Editorial show on August 30, 2008. During a conversation regarding the VP selection of Sarah Palin by John McCain, the subject of her qualifications came up…one of the guests stated that she was highly qualified and that she was the Commander of the National Guard in Alaska……Paul Gigot’s response was ” I don’t think she would want to use that, afterall the National Guard is not exactly the 82nd Airborne!!!”
Evidently Mr. Paul Gigot has not been informed about the number of National Guard men and women from every state in the union that have served numerous tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, the number that are still deployed and those beautiful lives that were lost in combat defending their country. It is apparent that he has no knowlege of the training or dedication of each and every member of the National Guard or the sacrifices of their families left behind…Sir, these are Citizen Soldiers…the highest calibre of Men and Women you will find…for Mr. Paul Gigot to insult them with his comments is despicable…he owes them all a public apology for his flip and degrading comments.
Fox News, the ball is in your court…lets see what you will do….your Network used to be the “Fair and Balanced” network….put your money where your mouth is…lets honor our National Guard members in the United States deployed and serving at home.

I am the proud parent of an Alaska National Guardsman who has served 2 tours in Afghanistan as a commander. He put his life many times on the line and is proud to serve this great country. Another son has served 3 tours in Iraq and a Grandson 1 tour in Iraq. I am ashamed of whomever it is in Fox News allowing denegration of our soldiers’ service. The Alaska Guardsmen have enough to deal with considering their Guard is commanded by rogue Generals and Sarah Palin. The State govenment and Guard in Alaska are both corrupt. I totally agree with what Richard said about the Alaska Guard and State Government. I also have a son in the Guard and he feels he will be retaliated against if he speaks out. Shame on whomever it was on Fox News who denigrated our soldiers. I am fed up with the lack of ethical leadership in the Alaska Guard and I want something done about it. I will NOT give up until something is done. I am also a Viet Nam Vet Bob

I am the mother of an Alaska Guardsman and I am very proud of his service. He has served honorably and bravely in Afghanistan. I am surprised and disappointed in Fox News who I used to watch regularly. They are pandering to Sarah Palin. She is no leader of the Alaska Guard and neither is General Campbell. This Guard needs investigating. These brave men and women deserve the best and not blithering politicians. Shame on Fox News. They need to apologize to the Alaska Guard men and women.
I am not quite finished with my comment. The more I have thought about it the angrier it made me. Sarah Palin has allowed these rogue Generals in the Alaska Guard to get away with murder. The Alaska National Guard has no real leaders but it does have great Guardsmen who do their job no matter what assholes they have as Commanders. I intend to get justice for my son no matter what it takes. He is a great and honorable soldier. Since THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD I will NOT give up. These Generals need investigating from the Pentagon not the Alaska State House. The truth will come out Generals of the Guard. I will stake my life on it.
