No! The shipping is NOT $10!! Its false advertising plain and simple! I just took a half hour of my day to design my welcome home banner for my son's return only to get to the shipping part which they want $25 to ship the banner that's going to take 6 weeks!!!! I know it doesn't cost that much to send a simple tube with a vinyl banner inside. They want you to THINK they are supporting the Troops but upcharging their shipping to make up the difference is just plain wrong.

Hey guys,

Buildasign.com is doing this. Buildasign.com/troops. The shipping and handling is 10 dollars. You can have them rush ordered for a bit more. Mine got lost in the mail and a new one was printed and sent out ASAP. It's not 40...its 10. Good luck!

I agree. Just found out about this through a google site. My Husband comes home on June 15th and I want a sign for him real bad. We all know that Military pay is NOT that great!! Anyone know of similar sites or is that a classified secret too. I am sure all the free banners were given to the families and friends of the site

It's not really for free. You have to pay for shipping to you which is up to like 40 bucks or so. So, technically, it's not free and the company is not going to go out of business by donating these signs.

Lindsey,

As a Soldier, and having cleared this with my wife, I have to respectfully disagree. It's not up to any business to provide anything for free just because we have or will return from combat. People go out of business that way and lose jobs. Those that do anything to help the families of troops by providing discounts and free merchandise deserve a huge pat on the back and our patronage because of their donations, not more pleas for free stuff.

I understand that a 15-month deployment is difficult on families and troops. I was there and I'll be back there. But, that doesn't mean that we deserve to have the world handed to us on a silver platter.

I know this is going to sound cruel because you can't hear my voice intonation, but if you can't afford a $50 sign, go purchase some cardboard or posterboard, a few markers, and a stick. It'll cost you a fraction of what you'd pay for a professional one. To be honest, I was more impressed with the personalized signs when I returned than those that were purchased.

If you need any help with ideas for signs or financial management, send me an email (<strong>cj[at]soldiersperspective[dot]us</strong>)

That sounds like a wonderful idea. Most of the soldiers come home and a banner with their name will make them feel like they're home. That is probably one of the most thoughtful things a soldier can ask for and the families will be able to show how special they are.
