I am a long time USAA member, over 40 years. USAA has always offered superior service through all three of their service sectors, Banking, Insurance and Investment Services. I am very happy with them. Thanks for the hint on military discounts. I am a disabled Viet Nam vet with a DD ID. I usually ask for a senior discount but I will ask about military discounts where appropriate.

One to make you chuckle... The Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum in Dallas gave us a great discount. $5 each. They didn't advertise, but were very happy to offer it when asked if they had a military discount. Some places only give it to my husband, but this one gave it to us all. ; )

Troy,

I discovered USAA shortly after GEICO started getting advertising and opening up their insurance to just about anybody. As their advertising increased, so did my insurance - for no reason. I had no tickets, no accidents, and no risk. A friend told me I should look in to USAA and saved over 50% on the VERY SAME insurance. Not only that, but each year, USAA sends me a check since every member of USAA is also part owner. The only thing I don't use USAA for now is banking. I have them for home, auto, life, and personal items insurance. I also have my auto loan through them that I refinanced to save money. The only thing keeping me from banking with them is the resistance to changing a bank I've been with for years and seems to be entrenched in my bill paying and everything. I'm afraid something bad will happen like bills falling off during the change. One day, I'll man up and just do it.

To add to your list, Muvico and other theaters offer a military discount, but you have to ask for it. They don't advertise it. Also, most Golden Corral restaurants do as well. McDonalds does and so does my FAVORITE ice cream shop of all time - Cold Stone Creamery!! Many celebrities offer free access to their premium clubs to members of the military. Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh do as well. Wow, I could just go on and on.

My husband and I have been using USAA banking and insurances since 1998. We opened it up in Texas but used it no matter where we lived. It is the best bank I have ever dealt with. All of our rates are well below what a lot of the other places are charging. My husband is no longer in the military and we are still able to use their bank. We have always been treated with respect no matter what. In fact, even after all these years, we have never had a grumpy person on the phone. LOL. If you have a problem with your account they take care of it right away. Instead of mailing deposits in you can scan them in. I haven't done this yet but I will. How convenient that is instead of waiting for the mail! I don't think I will be changing banks anytime soon. LOL.
