Ziggurat Con is slated to be the first gaming convention ever held in a war zone. The role-playing games will commence June 9 at 1200 and go until 2100 hours at Camp Adder/Tallil Airbase and is open to all allied military personnel and civilian contractors in Iraq. Click here for more information.

American Ranger posts about the “They Have Names” project and website. The site brings awareness to those troops who have given their lives in service to our country and ensures their remembrance. This week’s hero is Chase Armstrong Haag.
A goal of “They Have Names” is a money raising raffle so memorial coins can be given to families of those who have fallen.

White Rose from A Soldier’s Perspective just acquired the soldiersintraining.com domain. The aim of the site is to “connect those persons that are in basic training for all military branches and the American public that supports them.” The site is not yet built, but there is more information and an email up for those interested in writing a soldier in training or anyone going through basic training who would like to receive mail.

WASHINGTON – In an Iraq jobs program, the Pentagon has helped re-open three factories shuttered after the 2003 invasion, seeding the ground by buying uniforms and armored vehicles for its Iraqi allies from two of them.
Re-opening state-owned factories that produced everything from cement to buses for Saddam Hussein’s regime is among efforts President Bush hopes will boost the economy and help salvage a violent Iraq. His strategy of increasing troops there to try to calm violence is meant to buy the Iraqi government time to move forward on political reconciliation and reconstruction.
