Thanks to the generous contributions from each of our employees, we've continued to make worthwhile donations to support Military and Vets' charities. An arrangement struck with Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) in August 2008 makes VA Mortgage Center.com a committed partner of theirs over the next 2 years. This partnership was borne from our initial donation to PVA's OIF/OEF fund this summer, after which we were recognized at their yearly dinner in Omaha.
At the PVA dinner, our representative met a couple who had an amazing story. We've spoken with them a few times since and have since written this feature on the husband and wife's experience with the Military, its programs, and PVA. 5. Community Involvement
VA Mortgage Center.com is a frequent contributor to Military and Veteran charities across the country. Our employees continually bring together personal funds to give back to the people we work with every day, funding our college scholarships program and others.
Scholarship Contest: VA Mortgage Center.com developed the Military Education Scholarship Program in 2007, which is funded 100% by the personal funds of our employees. The essay topic changes for each contest, and recently was "Why I Choose to Serve." So far, over 1,000 active duty personnel, honorably discharged Veterans, and children of active duty personnel and Veterans have written in, sharing their personal stories about why they choose to serve our country and the impact it has had on their lives.
At VA Mortgage Center.com, we show our support and appreciation for these individuals by awarding scholarships to assist them or their children in continuing their education. We have proudly awarded over $15,000 in scholarships to our past winners, and look forward to continuing this program in the future as our way of saying thanks to those who have served us.
You Served Blog: In an effort to relay VA Benefit information, VA Mortgage Center.com hosts the You Served Military Blog, which has received national attention. Also featuring some of the most popular Military bloggers in the U.S., You Served's podcast airs each Thursday at 6 pm Central.
