Why Choose a VA Loan?

Minnesota VA Loans

VA home loans are especially designed to benefit military members by enhancing their home buying experience. Not only can veterans and active duty service members purchase a home with no money down, but they are also able to do so while benefiting from competitive interest rates and flexible mortgage terms. In addition to zero money down, competitive interest rates, and flexible mortgage terms, VA loan borrowers also benefit from other money saving perks such as regulated closing costs and not having to purchase mortgage insurance.

Qualifying for a Minnesota VA Home Loan

Qualifying for a VA home loan is relatively easy. Because the VA home loan program was especially designed to accommodate military members, veterans and active duty service members experience a high approval rate. In fact, nearly 80 percent of all military members who purchase a home with a VA home loan would not have been able to do so with a conventional home loan. To initially qualify for a VA home loan, veterans and active duty members must:

  • Have served at least 3 months on active duty during war time or served 181 days on active duty during a time without conflict
  • Have served 6 years in the military Reserves or National Guard

Eligible veterans and active duty members will also need to submit a Certificate of Eligibility in order to obtain a VA loan. To find help with the qualifying process, or just to have a few questions answered, interested military members should call a VA Mortgage Loan Specialist.
