VA Mortgage Center.com is proud to now offer five bi-yearly $1,500 scholarships in conjunction with our Military Education Scholarship Program. The process and purpose is simple - many college students currently struggle to meet the financial requirements of pursuing their education, even with the help of financial aid and other scholarship programs. Our scholarships are awarded each year in May and November.

We began awarding students our Military Education Scholarships back in May of 2007. Every 6 months, we pass along another $7,500 to the most outstanding students who apply. Since then, over 1,200 students have applied and we've passed out nearly $30,000 directly from our employee contributions. Read about our past winners below.
May 2009
We received over 200 essays for the spring 2009 contest. With so many compelling essays, it was again difficult to select just 5 scholarship recipients. Congratulations to the winners! Read about the spring 2009 winners and view their essays.
November 2008
The fourth semi-annual scholarship contest was another good one. Read about the November 2008 scholarship winners and view thier essays. We were also able to present one of our winners with her check in person.
May 2008
The third semi-annual scholarship contest was a great success. It is always hard for our staff to pick only 5 winners, and this contest was no exception. November 2007
The second semi-annual scholarship contest received another great response. With the many essays we received from across the country, it was hard to narrow the winners down to only five. May 2007
The first VA Mortgage Center.com essay contest was completed in May 2007. Here is a look back at the May 2007 winners. Due to the overwhelmingly positive response we received, our employees have decided to continue the scholarship program as a bi-yearly offering for students. Additionally, we are now offering five scholarships instead of three, and each is worth $1500.
Thanks again to all those who have applied and helped make this a success! In May, there were many excellent essays, and selecting the winners was a very tough decision. We look forward to the continuation of the program and reading more and more great essays.
A Message From One of Our Winners
Dear Mr. Long,On behalf of my daughter Emily and myself, please accept and pass along to your staff our sincerest appreciation for selecting my entry as one of your prize winning essays. I'm sure you received several noteworthy submissions, and I'm humbled that mine was chosen.
We would also like to express our gratitude to the many employees of the VA Mortgage Center who support the Military Education Scholarship Program. So often we see signs that promote "Support the Troops", but your program actually transforms that slogan into tangible action. I cannot emphasize enough how important that support is to our men and women in uniform. I urge you and your co-workers to continue regardless of your political affiliation or your opinion of the current world situation.
Finally I've often been the recipient of salutes throughout my career; however in this case, please allow me to salute your organization for all your contributions to our military community.
