The Essay
Submit a 2-3 page essay in response to the prompt: "Paying for college is becoming increasingly difficult for all students, including those with military ties. What drives you to obtain a degree? How do you envision your education propelling you to success beyond the classroom?" As always, we are interested in hearing about the circumstances and motivations behind making both the respected decision to serve our country and to return to school. Some other things to think about when answering our prompt:
- How has the Military taught you about preparation, hard work, learning from failure?
- How has the Military prepared you for success in your education as well as later in life?
- What do you, as an individual, hope to contribute to and accomplish?
Essays may or may not include responses to the above examples specifically, they are just recommended questions to consider when answering our prompt. We judge the essays based on overall content quality, uniqueness, and on their ability to provide a full and complete answer to the prompt. Basic grammatical issues and essay structure will be taken into account as well.
** If the potential scholarship recipient is a child of a veteran or active duty service member, the essay should be written by the parent. The scholarship money will then be disbursed to the child.
