The Essay
Submit a 2-3 page essay in response to the prompt: "What leadership qualities have you derived from your service in the Armed Forces? How do you project that these qualities will help you in pursuing your education and beyond?" As always, we are interested in hearing about the circumstances and motivations behind making both the respected decision to serve our country and to return to school. Some other things to think about when answering our prompt:
- When did you know that serving with the military was something you wanted to do?
- What are the benefits?
- What do you, as an individual, hope to contribute to and accomplish?
Essays may or may not include responses to the above examples specifically, they are just recommended questions to consider when answering our prompt. We judge the essays based on overall content quality, uniqueness, and on their ability to provide a full and complete answer to the prompt. Basic grammatical issues and essay structure will be taken into account as well.
** If the potential scholarship recipient is a child of a veteran or active duty servicemember, the essay should be written by the parent. The scholarship money will then be disbersed to the child.
