Berzerkeley Tactics

Monday, March 10th, 2008 by CJ

The crazies in Berkeley haven’t given up and have done everything they can to actually obey an ordnance issued by the city council: to disrupt the Marine recruiting effort. How do they do this?

Throughout the week, the curb in front of the recruiting offices becomes a venue for a variety of efforts to disrupt the recruiting and, ultimately, to drive the marines out of Berkeley. Protest singing, dancing, Tai Chi, yoga, breastfeeding mothers, kiss-ins, and photographic portraits for peace are some of the motley tactics Code Pink uses to keep the action lively. Guerrilla theater actions included a symbolic street cleansing (to wash the marines right out of Berkeley and the blood off residents’ hands), and a New Year’s Day dumping of manure outside the recruiting center.

Whoa!! Hold up!! Did I see “breastfeeding” as a tactic to harass Marines? If anything, I may just have to change services and head to the recruiting office myself to show my, um, support!! No, wait. Who wants to see an oily, unbathed, fat, sagging, breastfeeding hippie wearing pink anyway? It might work after all.

Anti-war judge rejects foster teen’s bid to join military

California is straight out of control.

A Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner dashed [Shawn Sage’s] hopes of early enlistment for Marine sniper duty, plus a potential $10,000 signing bonus.

In denying the Royal High School student delayed entry into the Marine Corps, Children’s Court Commissioner Marilyn Mackel reportedly told Sage and a recruiter that she didn’t approve of the Iraq war, didn’t trust recruiters and didn’t support the military.

Since when is it the job of a judge to inject her personal views into the lives of American citizens?  A judge’s job is to interpret the law and act in the best interests of the public and resolve disputes in a legal and objective manner.

NY Recruiting Center Bombed

Thursday, March 6th, 2008 by CJ

Guess what radical liberalism gets you. This:

Updated, 7:41 a.m. | The New York City police just issued a statement describing the source of the explosion as an “improvised explosive device” and putting the time of the blast at 3:43 a.m.

7:39 a.m. | New York City police officers and firefighters cordoned off much of Times Square for more than two hours after a small explosion — apparently set off by a manmade device — damaged the front of the Armed Forces Career Center on the traffic island bounded by 43rd and 44th Streets, Seventh Avenue and Broadway around 4 a.m., officials said.

Leadership Defined

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 by CJ

As a First Sergeant, I have the privilege to assist the commander in promoting deserving Soldiers.  I have always been a Soldier-oriented leader, even when I was a Soldier myself.  There is nothing so important that I cannot be there to personally promote a Soldier or present an award.

This week I was able to promote one of my Soldiers to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG).  The rank of SSG is an interesting one - you’re a junior NCO technically but viewed by others as a senior NCO.  It’s not uncommon for career Soldiers to retire with the rank of SSG.  It’s a prestigious rank that signifies that the wearer is no longer “learning” to be an NCO.  Hopefully, by this time he or she already understands their role.
