Congratulations on your new home!! Moving is HORRIBLE as far as I'm concerned. When we purchased this last home we ran into a glitch at closing. The money from the sale of our old house wasn't transferred in time. The transfer sat on some dingbats desk so she didn't transfer it that day. We had very, very little cash and no where to stay. We'd already spent two days in a hotel w/a 150 lb dog, cat and teenage grandson. Not a pleasant situation. Anyway, the people we were buying the house from were very kind. They let us move in w/o a deposit, rent or anything. They just trusted us. East Peoria, IL is still a bit of farm country and the people are amazing.

Glad your move is complete and you're settling in. Can't wait to see the photos!!

We all commiserate with you CJ! I just moved myself. The promised 10 teens and 1 adult turned into 3 teens and 1 adult when I moved. Fortunately, one of the teens was ACTUALLY willing to carry furniture (and I only have a couple of sticks of furniture anyway at this time) and the one adult came back after dropping the teens off to help me for another couple of hours. I've learned not to bank on help promised until it arrives, believe me. :)

I hope arrival works out smoothly for you (or as smoothly as possible). :)

It does indeed bite; the muscles, the patience, the brain cells and the pocketbook (wallet for you). Sounds like you've managed with the help of some good people, though. I hope its all over with soon and y'all are settled in before you can say 'now, where'd I put the remote?'

Happy trails, CJ. (or should that be 'tri-als'? - nawww, you'll do fine)

Moving does BITE, no doubt about it. I told Marty we're not doing it again. LOL! With my move though, since we weren't pcs-ing I did it myself with help from 3 very kind Soldiers here at Fort Hood. I moved into the house before closing and wasn't required to pay a deposit, though I did have to pay rent. That's just outrageous, to say the least. Makes you wonder if maybe they didn't have someone start the process, move in early and then back out of the sale. Congrats on passing the PT test. Of course I had no doubt that you would.

CJ,
Sorry about things not going quite right. Moving does bite sometimes and in the military, they want things done the way they want them. Hopefully everthing else will work out for you guys and you will soon be in your new home. Have a good trip down there and write when you can. Our thoughts are with you guys!! :)

P.S. I can't believe those people wanting a deposit on the house, a large desposit at that, when you are buying the house. Sounds like greed to me!!

I hate moving. I'd rather add on to our old, small house than move again! Good thing I'm not in the military. LOL

My sister moved into her house a few days before closing and she only paid a rental fee for the days they were there. No deposit~they were buying the house for goodness sakes, why would they do any damage to it??

Anyway, I hope the closing date can be moved up and you can get into your new house ASAP!!

Congrats on passing the PT test! :D
